COSA è il GAISF?

Oggi, 25 aprile, è la giornata più adatta per fare appello al senso di appartenenza del movimento nazionale del Dragon Boat per respingere il tentativo di occuparsi del nostro sport, in modo poco chiaro, da parte della Federcanoa.
Faccio appello a tutto il movimento per restare UNITI, LIBERI e INDIPENDENTI!
Siamo tutti sulla stessa barca per difendere l'autonomia e la pari dignità del nostro sport, per difendere la FIDB, la casa dei Dragonboaters italiani, per proseguire il cammino verso il riconoscimento da parte del CONI come disciplina indipendente.
La FIDB ha organizzato in 12 anni un mondiale e 3 Europei, ha partecipato con centinaia di Atleti a Mondiali ed Europei in tutto il mondo, ha sviluppato il movimento delle Donne in Rosa, le donne operate di tumore al seno, e l'interessamento della Federcanoa certifica il nostro ottimo lavoro che ha portato il nostro sport, pochi anni fa quasi sconosciuto in Italia ed anche sminuito in ambiente canoistico, a solleticare gli appetiti di una Federazione Olimpica prestigiosa come la FICK.
Per noi questo improvviso interessamento è una soddisfazione e siamo pronti a collaborare su piani paritari con la FICK con un apposito protocollo d'intesa per lavorare insieme su aree promozionali di comune interesse ma siamo anche pronti a resistere al fianco del vero popolo del Dragon Boat per difendere la nostra identità, la nostra autonomia e la pari dignità del nostro sport con la canoa che vuole illegittimamente fagocitarlo e ridurlo a disciplina secondaria della Federcanoa.
Molti in questi giorni mi hanno domandato "cosa è il GAISF?", per capire perchè è così importante che la International Dragon Boat Federation sia stata riconosciuta nel 2007 dal GAISF (General Association of International Sport Federation).
Il GAISF è l'organismo sportivo mondiale che riconosce le Federazioni Olimpiche e quelle non Olimpiche. Tutte le Federazioni Olimpiche fanno comunque parte del GAISF.
Anche la International Canoe Federation è affiliata al GAISF, oltre che al CIO (International Olympic Committee) e all'ASOIF (Association of Summer Olympic Federation, Le Federazioni degli Sport Olimpici Estivi).
La IDBF è invece solo membro del GAISF dal 2007, ma ciò è abbastanza per rendere ben salda la posizione del Dragon Boat, che NON può più essere considerato una disciplina canoistica ma uno sport riconosciuto DIVERSO dalla canoa, rispetto agli altri paddle sport che non hanno ancora nessun riconoscimento internazionale e quindi potrebbero rientrare tra le discipline canoistiche, come per esempio la canoa polinesiana e il rafting.
L'art. 2 dello Statuto del GAISF evidenzia tra i suoi scopi: "to recognize unconditionally the autonomy of its Members and their authority within their respective sports" (riconoscere incondizionatamente l'autonomia dei suoi Affiliati e la loro autorità nei loro rispettivi sport)

GAISF:
The General Association of International Sports Federations - groups together international sports federations and various other associations.
GAISF mission is to unite, support and promote its member International Sports Federations and Organisations for the co-ordination and protection of their common aims and interests, communication and co-operation, while at the same time conserving and respecting their autonomy.
GAISF role is to confirm, by means of its established system of criteria and levels of recognition, which organisations may be regarded for membership.
GAISF role consists in recognizing, assisting and representing the IFs in realms of common interest within the Olympic and Sports Movement and governmental and non-governmental bodies
GAISF role is also to support a fair representation of women in the participation of sport and in sports management and to refuse all racial and religious discrimination in the practice of sport and in sports management.

Article 2. Objectives
The objectives of GAISF are
1. to promote sport at all levels, as a means to contribute to the positive development of society;
2. to assist its Members in strengthening their position as world leaders in their respective sports;
3. to develop specific services for its Members, and provide them with assistance, training and support;
4. to increase the level of recognition of GAISF and its Members by the Olympic Movement stakeholders as well as by other entities involved in sport;
5. to actively support the organization of multi-disciplinary games by its Members;
6. to be a modern, flexible, transparent and accountable organization;
7. to organize, at least once a year, a gathering of all of its Members, and of other stakeholders of the
sport movement, preferably on the occasion of its General Assembly;
8. to recognize unconditionally the autonomy of its Members and their authority within their respective sports;
9. to promote closer links among its Members, and between its Members and any other sport organization;
10. to coordinate and protect the common interests of its Members;
11. to collaborate with organizations having as their objective the promotion of sport on a world-wide
basis;
12. to collect, collate and circulate information to and among its Members.
